MARKHAM, Ontario—January 2, 2003—Apple® today announced the immediateavailability of iCal 1.0.1, an update to Apple´s innovative calendar programthat lets users manage multiple calendars and share them over the Internet,and the release of iSync 1.0, Apple´s breakthrough synchronization software.Since the introduction of iCal in September, more than 1 million copies ofiCal have been distributed and more than 200,000 calendars have beenpublished online.

iCal's breakthrough "Internet publish and subscribe" capability is a firstfor any calendar program. Users can "publish" their iCal calendars on theInternet, and other Mac® users can "subscribe" to them and view them in iCalon their own Mac. The subscribed to calendars will automatically updatewhenever the original published calendars are updated. Since iCal´sintroduction, several independent websites have sprung up to host iCalcalendars. One of the most popular, iCalShare.com, hosts over 780 publishediCal calendars in 28 categories including movies, music and sports. Any Macuser can subscribe to one or more of these calendars to, for example, keeptrack of their favorite football team´s schedule or see when their favoriteband is in town for a concert. iCalShare.com even offers a plug-in forApple´s Sherlock® application that lets users search for published calendarsby keyword.
iSync 1.0 works seamlessly with the Mac® OS X version 10.2 "Jaguar" AddressBook and iCal to synchronize contacts and calendars betweenBluetooth-enabled mobile phones, PalmOS devices, Apple´s iPod portabledigital music player and other Macs using Apple´s .Mac service. With iSync1.0, users can for the first time sync their "Jaguar" Address Book with thenew .Mac Address Book making it incredibly easy to access contacts whileusing .Mac Web Mail from any computer in the world. iSync 1.0 also includesregularly-scheduled Mac to Mac synchronization, which makes it even moreconvenient to keep information updated on multiple Macs.
